Edward Snowden Uses Xi Jinping’s China To Highlight Censorship Peril: Twitterati Asks ‘Isn’t It Similar To Your Friend In The Kremlin?’

Self-proclaimed CIA whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was not long ago granted citizenship by Russia, took to Twitter on Saturday to warn of a much graver danger than censorship.

“What disturbs me a lot more is not the censorship itself, but how it shapes the ideology of persons,” Snowden tweeted. His responses came as he estimate-tweeted an AFP story that mentioned governing administration surveillance by the communist regime in China, led by President Xi Jinping.

While China’s communist leaders have been authoritarian, the problem worsened immediately after Xi took around in 2021, as he reined in the freewheeling social undercurrents of the switch-of-the-century utilizing a mix of “technology, regulation and ideology” to squeeze dissenters, the AFP report mentioned.

Snowden’s feedback did not make perception to a Twitter user.
